Graduate Programme - Business Management - Hong-Kong

Description

Mission

Permanent position with a 12-months rotational programme within different teams to discover different activities, as well as build expertise and professional skills.

Challenges

  • This programme is dedicated to young graduates, with a Bachelor or Master’s degree recently obtained and maximum 12-months’ global professional experience, who are willing to discover Wealth Management industry;
  • Perspective to obtain a permanent role within the WM team.

    Main responsibilities

    Joining Business Management team in a Private Bank can be a valuable opportunity to kickstart the Graduate’s career in the Finance industry. For example:

    - Practical experience and exposure: Private Banks are at the forefront of the financial industry and the exposures in the Business Management team offers the Graduate get into the inner working of how a private bank operates. The Graduate will gain a comprehensive understanding of the banking operations, risk management, compliance, and client services. This exposure will help the Graduate develop a solid foundation of knowledge and provide a first-hand understanding of the dynamics of the financial sector.
    - Skill developments: The internship in a business management team allows the Graduate to develop and enhance essential skills that are highly valued in the finance industry. For example, project management skills, problem solving skills, communication skills, and teamwork etc.
    - Networking opportunities: Due to the nature of Business Management team which connects the Front Offices to all the functional team in the middle and back offices, it opens doors to networking opportunities. The Graduate will have the chance to interest with professionals from various departments within the bank, including Bankers, senior executives, investment advisors, COO and Compliance etc. Building relationship with these important individuals can be invaluable, as they can provide guidance, mentorship, and potential future job opportunities.

    During the program, under supervision of the Head of Business Management as mentor, the Graduate is expected to:

    - Get familiar with the organization structure, the roles and responsibilities of different functional teams and the usage of the Bank’s core systems
    - Rotate between business management, front office sales team and Investment Services team to learn the key tasks and responsibilities

    Rotations

    Rotation 1 – Business Management Team for 6 months

    The rotation in the business management team will be focus on:

     - Sales Management and business planning: Support the team in MI report preparation and MI analysis and management reporting. Assist the team to implement action plans assigned which impact the Front Office.
    - Support project management: Learn to collaborate with the team on various projects relates to process improvement, operational efficiency, and Front Office risk management.
    - Coordinate meeting and presentation, including preparing meeting agenda, coordinating schedules, and taking meeting minutes.
    - Assist the team on client onboarding and KYC profile review process, maintain and track the new account opening status list.
    - Housekeeping: progress and status tracking in client portfolio review, cross-border travel report, monitor top 10 in/outflow and maintain the Account/Relationship and EAM/Finder list.
    - Coordinate in the EAM/Finders periodic review and progress tracking.
    - Coordinate in project UAT / Testing arrangement.   

    Rotation 2 – Front Office - Assistant Private Banker team for 3 months

    The rotation in the Front Office team will be focus on:

    - Products and services offered to Private Banking clients.
    - Front Office process & procedures, system logic and process workflow. 
    - The Graduate will be attached to Assistants of Private Banker to learn the daily tasks carried out in the Front Office, e.g. selling process, order taking from client, handling remittance, account maintenance etc.

    Rotation 3 – Investment Services Team for 3 months

    Main responsibilities in the Investment Services Team:

    - The Graduate will be attached to various investment/product specialist to learn about the products offering from the bank, e.g. Equity, Fixed Income, Mutual Funds, Structured Products and Alternative Investments, and the key products features and characteristics of these products.  
    - The Graduate will learn from the Advisory team on engaging private client for investment products.

    At the end of all rotations, the Graduate is expected to be fully trained in:

    - Front Office practices and requirements
    - Products and services offered in Private Banking
    - Business Management for Private Banking Front Office
    - Professional organizational behaviour and conduct in an international Private Bank

    Education

    • Education: Bachelor Degree
    • Certification: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree - Banking and Finance related degree is preferable
    • IT Tools: Solid knowledge of the Microsoft Suite (power point/excel).

    Experience

    • Years of experience: 0-3 : beginner
    • Experience required: Maximum 12 months’ professional experience
    • Experience in private banking: Optional

    Language

    • English: Fluent
    • Other: Advanced (Good manner in English, Cantonese and Mandarin (preferrable))

    Personal skills

    • Swiss resident: N/A

  • Good communication skill and interpersonal skill
  • Proficiency in data analysis skill and good at Excel / PowerPoint
  • Good adaptability to a fast changing environment
  • Poses analytical and critical thinking skill
  • Good attitude and willing to learn
  • Team player and poses high ethical standard
  • Prefer Business and Finance related discipline but not mandatory
