Main responsibilities

Context

UBP – Union Bancaire Privee - is undergoing a significant transformation of its Financial Instrument Database. The Instrument Database contains the financial instruments the bank trades across both its asset management and its wealth management businesses.

Over the next few months, the system is going to be operated as a cloud-based managed service. We will implement the managed service on top of Markit EDM (Enterprise Data Management), a third party technology.

The current and future Markit Instrument Database will become one of the most mission critical systems of the bank. As such, implementation quality is paramount to maintain the expected service levels.

Key Requirements

Functional skills

• The right candidate will have a previous exposure in the financial or banking industry. Knowledge of the main financial instruments (international equities, main derivative instruments and fixed income instruments) and corporate actions are keys to support the project.
• Technical and functional experience at dealing with market data is mandatory.
• Knowledge of the main financial data feeds and experience in being able to handle feeds such as Refinitiv, SIX/Telekurs, MSCI, Bloomberg etc. will be highly valuable for the position.
• Understanding and experience in designing and developing data driven mission critical systems is important to scale the service across the depth and breadth of our financial instruments.
• Experience in wealth management / private banking would be beneficial.
• A project management certification (ex : PMP) would be appreciated.

Technical skills

• The right candidate will have some database and SQL capabilities. Markit EDM being built on top of Microsoft SQL Server, candidates will need to demonstrate some abilities in this area.
• Strong data modelling capabilities are required. Finding the right tradeoffs between a 3^rd normal form and some level of data denomalization will be important in the design process.
• The instrument database has to be integrated with the rest of the bank’s software ecosystem. It is therefore important to demonstrate significant software integration patterns, such as the use or build of APIs, ETLs, message oriented middleware and other integration technologies.
• Experience with cloud computing, DevSecOps, and automation tools is a plus.
