The External Asset Managers (EAM) team at UBP is driven by one idea above all: partnership that delivers. They focus on making it easier for external managers to serve end-clients, combining reliable custody with access to markets and experts. The aim is simple and ambitious: to help EAMs accelerate their businesses and raise service standards for their clients. In practice, that means proximity, speed, and solutions that work at scale.

Our EAM team builds long-term relationships. Each relationship manager serves a limited number of clients to ensure availability and personalisation. Alongside them sits a compliance specialist who pre-assesses account-opening opportunities and gives feasibility feedback within a short timeframe. For EAMs, that brings clarity early, reduces friction and shortens the account-opening process for new relationships.

Reach matters. The team serves a global EAM client base from desks in Geneva, Zurich, Basel, Lugano, London, Jersey, Luxembourg, Monaco, Dubai (through a correspondent), Hong Kong and Singapore. That footprint gives managers operational choice and end-clients the comfort of local touchpoints within a single, consistent custodian model.

What drives UBP’s EAM desk is turning banking infrastructure into client advantage. They make available to EAMs market solutions for cross-asset ideas and guidance, and give fast-tracked trading access to select clients, with enhanced execution capabilities.

For investment choice, they facilitate access to our open-architecture platform covering long-only strategies, hedge funds and alternatives, private markets, and structured products. They also offer support on actively managed certificates (AMCs) structured on the CREAM platform and coordinate the full AMC set-up for managers acting as Notional Portfolio Managers – from documents and checks to internal committees and final terms.

Behind the set-up is a culture that values dedication and ambition. As one senior team member puts it: ‘We are constantly driven to give our clients the best service, sometimes finding innovative solutions.’ Another adds: ‘Focus on making the best of every day because that discipline underpins long-term success in any industry.’ A third highlights the people factor: ‘The quality of colleagues across the Bank is high; working together is stimulating and raises the bar.’

‘Energy, passion and innovation drive us to serve our clients in the best way; every day brings new challenges, so we think creatively and deliver.’

Anja Karcher, Head of EAM Basel

The Bank’s stance is consistent: the operating environment for EAMs is evolving as regulation and client profiles change. The response is partnership. We have supported external managers for years to develop value-added offerings that meet more complex needs. We facilitate access to a wide range of solutions, strategic capabilities, and a track record of innovation, so that EAMs can deliver premium investment services to their clients.

‘We are passionate about what we do – that is the spirit of UBP – and the quality of our colleagues fuels motivation and results.’

Pierre-Emile Schifferli, Head of EAM Geneva

What ultimately drives the EAM team is the conviction that great service is built on closeness, clarity, and craft. They bring a specialist focus, international reach, and a comprehensive toolkit – from custody and connectivity to ideas and execution – so that external managers can spend more time where it matters: with clients.
