Investment Management Services

At Union Bancaire Privée (UK) Limited, we value active management and diversification, integrating global economic outlooks with expertise in asset allocation, investment selection, and portfolio construction.

You can access our investment process and expertise in a way that suits you. Many people opt for our discretionary management service, where we construct and then manage a portfolio on your behalf. Those clients with the time and confidence to make their own investment decisions often prefer our advisory or execution-only services. Whichever route is right for you, you’ll have direct contact with the people responsible for managing investments and providing advice.

Become a client

Discretionary

You may wish to delegate investment decisions to our experts, either because you do not have the time or the immediate access to market information to make timely investment decisions. Or perhaps you simply prefer to entrust an investment professional with your financial assets. UBP offers three discretionary investment management services:

Funds Service

Your portfolio will be managed and implemented using one or more of the funds from the range managed by Union Bancaire Privée (UK) Limited; these are chosen to meet your risk profile and investment objectives. These funds provide an efficient means of accessing our investment philosophy and process.

The Fund Range

Discretionary Portfolio Service (collectives)

Discretionary Portfolio Service (collectives): Your portfolio will be managed and implemented using a range of collectives or other instruments where appropriate. The asset allocation will be managed according to our investment philosophy and process to ensure that the portfolio continues to meet your risk profile and investment objectives.

Discretionary Portfolio Service (direct)

Your portfolio will be managed and implemented using equities and government bonds where we consider it suitable. The asset allocation will be managed according to our investment philosophy and process to ensure that the portfolio continues to meet your risk profile and investment objectives.

Advisory

You make the final decision on your investments with advice provided by our investment management experts. We provide you with the expert investment knowledge you need to make informed portfolio decisions, allowing you to stay in control of your investments. Advice can take many different forms, and we offer a holistic approach to help you make investment decisions:

  • Asset allocation: Defining a global asset allocation overview of your portfolio, will allow you to quantify your risk tolerance
  • Recommendations: Once we have defined your optimal asset allocation with you, we help you build your personalised portfolio and provide you with investment advice based on your requirements and our investment convictions.
  • Risk management: We monitor your portfolio and may recommend new investment ideas consistent with your investment profile and changing market conditions.

Execution Only

This enables you to invest directly in markets with no investment advice provided by our experts. If you are passionate about making your own investment decisions and simply require a platform to execute orders, this is an ideal option.

  • We offer different levels of service to add value to your trading experience, combining security, trading freedom and speed of execution.

  • You will have access to our dedicated execution teams who can discuss your requirements in detail and place your orders for you. Our team in London can provide you with publicly available information and key trading metrics on your investments as required, and work with you to execute your investment decisions quickly whilst also minimising price impacts.

UBP Weekly View - All eyes on central bank meetings

Equities advanced over the week on expectations of a first Fed rate cut on 17 September. Investors will scrutinise the Fed’s commentary for guidance on further potential cuts in October and December, moves which have largely been priced in by the markets. Policy meetings are also scheduled at the Bank of Canada (BoC), the Bank of England (BoE), and the Norges Bank, with the European Central Bank (ECB) having decided last week to leave its key rate unchanged at 2%.

UBP Weekly View - Soft US labour data raise Fed rate cut expectations

Without further pressure from the White House, the Fed is set to cut rates in September. Markets are debating whether the move will be 25 or 50 basis points after weak payroll figures, though we continue to expect only a 25-bp cut given the persistent inflationary pressures. The prospect of lower rates has buoyed equities, while attention this week will turn to US inflation data for evidence of tariff-related effects.
