A balance between youth and seniority, innovation and experience, progressivism and conservatism, drive and wisdom is the recipe for a successful team.
In this video the site manager of our Monaco office, Sérène El Masri, and her younger colleague Bailsa Prakaj discuss how senior and junior staff complement each other. As Bailsa puts it, ‘younger colleagues will challenge existing assumptions that may no longer apply while experience will prevent some wild ideas from turning into disasters.’ With the input of both you get a balance, and that’s what drives the best innovations.
To capitalise on the benefits that each team and individual in an organisation can bring, be sure to reach out to others. Ask them questions, find out how they approach matters and in what way it might be better than your own method. In turn, they will gain from seeing things from your angle.

Having an overview from her position of head of the branch, Sérène feels it is her responsibility to facilitate this sort of interaction and exchange. When someone in one of her teams has input that can be useful to the broader operations, she strives to give them visibility within the branch and beyond.
