Several of our colleagues recently demonstrated their dedication to making a positive impact on both their local communities and the environment through two inspiring initiatives. From Zurich to the Mediterranean coast, their efforts reflect a shared spirit of generosity and care.

UBP’s Monaco team, along with their families, participated in an educational and environmental initiative to clean up the Mediterranean coast. Held at Marinières beach in Villefranche-sur-Mer, a Natura 2000 Special Protected Area, the event combined hands-on activities with environmental education. Participants collected 14 kg of waste, including cigarette butts, soda cans, bottles, and even construction materials, from the creeks and coves using kayaks. Onshore, children and parents engaged in activities to learn about marine pollution, such as classifying waste by decomposition time and identifying marine organisms. Each child received an age-appropriate book about sea creatures to continue their learning. The event, organised by charities Grandir Naturellement and Paddle Cleaner, concluded with a shared lunch where participants reflected on their meaningful contributions and the importance of protecting marine life.

Towards the end of the year, in Zurich, the team embraced the seasonal spirit of sharing by supporting those in need. They donated 145 kg of goods, including clothing, to Winterhilfe, a charity that aids people living in poverty in Switzerland by providing essential services like healthcare cost support and clothing packages for families. Additionally, UBP Zurich employees volunteered at Die Cuisine, a local soup kitchen, on two occasions. They prepared over 150 plant-based meals each time, which were distributed to individuals and families in need. The experience left a lasting impression on the volunteers, fostering a sense of gratitude and awareness about food waste and privilege. Jacqueline Schlumpf-Menz, an Account Manager in the UBP Zurich EAM team, reflected on the humbling experience, noting the importance of reducing food waste and supporting those less fortunate.

Thank you and well done to our colleagues for their dedication to sustainability and community engagement.
