Third UBP Next Gen Academy a success

Third UBP Next Gen Academy a success

The UBP Next Generation Academy – which recently took place again, four years after the previous edition, partly in Paris and partly in Geneva – brought together an eclectic and multicultural group of young people with a lot to share and a keen interest in learning from the course and from each other.

This marked the third edition of this innovative learning programme developed in close cooperation with the leading business school INSEAD. An international group of twenty participants – the next generation of our UHNW clients – embarked on this course that combined two on-site, interactive sessions in Fontainebleau and Geneva with a separate online learning module. With this programme, UBP aims to bring the best business management practices to the next generation of our key Wealth Management clients, helping them to take up the reins of leadership in their family companies or even the broader world of business. Participants came from all around the globe for a unique opportunity to network and benefit from the variety of backgrounds and cultures.

Anne de Picciotto was delighted to launch the proceedings and to meet those attending the welcome dinner. The learning then began with intensive sessions over two days led by INSEAD at its campus in France. This included a series of acting exercises, developed jointly by the Fontainebleau School of Acting and the INSEAD faculty, and targeted study sessions covering key themes such as artificial intelligence and virtual reality. The final day in Fontainebleau saw the participants split into groups each of which was assigned one case to work on during the online part of the course.

UBP then welcomed participants to its offices in Geneva to immerse them in a series of workshops. There was also an interactive session chaired by UBP’s CEO Guy de Picciotto and Nadège Lesueur-Pène, Head of Wealth Management – Developing Markets, which gave the hosts a unique opportunity to learn from the students and to share their insights and perspectives.

To round off this year's Next Generation Academy, the last day involved a further INSEAD session in the morning followed by some practicing before pitching the projects in the Dragons’ Den. The prize for the team deemed by the dragons to have made the best pitch was a branded gift and mentoring by our private markets professionals to pursue the project. All the teams then celebrated their graduation over a special dinner in the beautiful setting of the La Reserve Geneva hotel along with their parents and some alumni from the previous editions.
