At UBP we recognise the strength of diversity, and that includes diversity in professional backgrounds and skills. Because we know that every single thing you learn about, or learn how to do, will serve you one day in another field.
A while back we told you about our colleague who used to be a concert pianist and has transposed the skills he developed as a musician to become a good banker. Among our colleagues we also have people who have studied literature and history, people who run charities, people who fly airplanes, and many more.
Here we are showcasing a colleague who came from the world of dance. After a distinguished career in ballet – at Aterballetto, Balletto di Roma and Les Ballets de Monaco – it was time for Leart to set off on a quest for a second career.
This took him back to school to study finance, an area he was drawn to and where he felt comfortable. While some interviewers were unsure how to respond to his seemingly irrelevant background, others, like us, were intrigued and recognised the potential value of an artistic profile with its wealth of experiences.
“My experience as an artist allows me to be creative, to sometimes see things from a different angle, and to be able to bring a new perspective on a range of subjects.”
Dancing is a tough profession in which you can never rest on your laurels, he says. You have to be adaptable – to new partners, choreographers, companies – resilient, and aim high. The discipline and perseverance required to perform on stage are also needed to succeed in wealth management. Leart has shown that those core qualities which he developed in his very different first career were invaluable in relationship management.
