In June, UBP once again participated in the Switzerland-wide Bike to Work challenge. Split into 23 teams, 88 participants pedalled with enthusiasm, collectively covering 18,500 kilometres.
Bike to Work is Switzerland’s largest bike promotion campaign, with over 3,000 companies participating annually. At UBP, our colleagues once again showed team spirit and determination: on average, they cycled to work on 73% of their workdays, with 25 employees biking in every single day.
Promoting cycling at UBP
Commuting is a key driver of UBP’s operational carbon emissions, accounting for 40% of its emissions. Cycling offers an attractive low-carbon commuting solution, with daily exercise being an additional benefit.
To encourage more employees to cycle to work, UBP organised several bike maintenance sessions in 2026. This initiative has been running since 2022 and is always met with a lot of enthusiasm from our employees.
So far, over 110 colleagues have had their bikes serviced by professionals. Geneva went first, with mechanics on site for three days in April, servicing an impressive total of 90 bikes. Next up was Basel, which used a local shop to service six bikes. Last came Zurich, where 17 colleagues dropped off their bikes for check-ups and repairs at the start of July. During these sessions, professionals adjusted gear and brake systems, checked and tightened screws, nuts and bolts, and examined all the bikes’ components to keep our colleagues cycling safely and efficiently. London’s up next, with plans to host a bike maintenance day in August.
