UBP: Private Banker International Awards 2017

Union Bancaire Privée has received the Editor’s Choice Award for Innovative Family Office Advisor.

UBP is pleased to announce that it has received the prestigious Editor’s Choice Award for Innovative Family Office Advisor at the Private Banker International Switzerland Awards 2017. This recognises its drive and innovation in continuously adding specialist services that offer real added value to its clients and that are hard for competitors to match. With this award, UBP has been recognised for its “FOSS Family Office Services Switzerland” – a unique and independent family office advisory service that helps clients establish a single-family office or select a multi-family office and provides a free information hub on anything a UHNWI needs to consider before beginning their search for a family office solution.

Jan Van Bueren, Co-Founder of FOSS Family Office Services Switzerland said,

“We are deeply honoured to have received this special award from Private Banker International, as it shows that our vision of revolutionising the family office space and our hard work to fill a much-needed gap in the market has been recognised, not only by the vast amounts of inquiries we have received from UHNWIs but also by this award from a highly-regarded institution.”

Bertrand Binggeli, Co-Head of Tax and Wealth Planning commented,

“Receiving this award shows that UBP is a true innovator in terms of listening to clients and having the scale and entrepreneurial spirit needed to deliver a unique service that provides significant added value to both UBP clients and prospects.”

The Private Banker International Switzerland Awards 2017 recognises winners in various categories that cover the private banking sector. The awards are based on a rigorous selection process which starts with nominations from industry professionals, including the readership of Private Banker International. Nominees are then shortlisted and submitted to a panel of judges who decide on the finalists, the overall winner and a highly commended in each award category..

Managing political risk in EM

There are around 80 countries in which we can invest, so we may have to contend with up to 20 elections a year. This does not call for being either cautious or bullish, but for being politically aware and having a process for assessing political risk. In our case this means understanding the economic impact of different outcomes, working out which ones have been priced in, and monitoring opinion polls.

Initial Thoughts on Trump-Kim Summit

Tame market response to the summit is accurately priced, in our view, with still low expectations of a real breakthrough in the near term to trade the ‘peace dividend’ or ‘economic reconstruction’ themes.
