Mission

Students, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 2021 from universities in or outside Hong Kong and who are Hong Kong residents lawfully employable in Hong Kong, are welcome to apply. Open application starts on 1 May 2021

Challenges

The 6-month program offers insights into the private banking sector and includes training, networking opportunities and exposure to UBP wealth management professionals across businesses. 

Main responsabilities

This Compliance Assistant provides support to the Hong Kong Financial Crime Compliance team, in various compliance activities for the Hong Kong branch.

Responsibilities:

Conduct name searches to assist due diligence checks during client onboarding and carry out periodic review of these names.

Track statuses and assist in logistics of periodic reviews of client relationships.

Conduct first-level checks on completed high risk periodic review files submitted by the Front Office.

Review alerts of ongoing automated client screenings and escalate potential true hits or undetermined hits to supervisors.

Perform ad hoc tasks as assigned by Head of Financial Crime/Compliance from time to time.

Learning outcomes:

Knowledge of money laundering/terrorist financing (ML/TF) and how to relate it to client onboarding and ongoing monitoring in private banking industry.  Focus on obtaining hands-on experience in activities critical to ML/FT compliance.

Knowledge of the ML/TF risk management framework and its application in business context.

Application and assessment of the ongoing ML/TF monitoring system and investigation process.

Education

  • Education: Bachelor Degree

Experience

  • Years of experience: 0-3 : beginner
  • Experience in private banking: Optional

Language

  • English: Fluent
  • Other: Fluent (Cantonese and or Mandarin)

  • Swiss resident: N/A

Have a keen interest to learn and perform compliance matters; Be detail-minded and self-motivated. Have good analytical skills. Have good interactive, communication and writing skills. Be a Team player.
