About Union Bancaire Privée

Union Bancaire Privée is a success story which started in Geneva, Switzerland in 1969. Whilst seeing remarkable growth in the space of just one generation, Edgar de Picciotto, the Bank’s Chairman, was able to maintain UBP’s independence. Today, with a Tier-1 ratio of over 22.1%, it is one of the most strongly-capitalised private banks.

UBP’s values – innovation, passion and creativity – are the cornerstones of the Bank’s entrepreneurial vision and have contributed it to carve out its niche as a pioneer in the financial industry. In the 1970s, UBP was amongst the first companies to recognise the potential diversification benefits and risk/return opportunities offered by alternative investments. Today, thanks to its renowned know-how and rigorous approach to investing, UBP offers high added-value services and develops a high-quality range of products in the long-only and the alternative spaces.

Following a series of carefully-chosen and successful acquisitions which began in the 1980s, Union Bancaire Privée is now active in more than twenty locations around the world and employs some 1,500 people. With the centre of world economic growth shifting towards Asia, UBP is expanding its operations not only there, but also in other emerging markets.

The Bank continues to roll out its global strategy, which is built on its long-term commitment to its clients and to growing its financial expertise even further.
