KnowledgeBase's Mission and Current Projects

Founded in June 1995, KnowledgeBase works to encourage individual skill development and self-empowerment through computers and information technology. In addition to our signature program, The KnowledgeBase Summer Computer Academy, KnowledgeBase has also achieved its mission through the following ongoing projects:

  • COMPUTER HARDWARE INVESTIGATION AND PROCUREMENT (PROJECT CHIP). KnowledgeBase uses creative means (auctions, refurbishing "obsolete" equipment, repairing broken equipment, etc.) to amass computer hardware. The project currently maintains 40 486- and Pentium-level personal computers.

  •
  • INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CONSULTING. KnowledgeBase develops computer labs and low-cost networking solutions that allow community centers to access the Internet.

  •
  • CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT. KnowledgeBase authors curricula that introduce middle and high school students to using the Internet as a research tool, as well as training programs that introduce entrepreneurs to business uses of the Internet.
